As Light Dies - Ars Subtilior from within the Cage. Full-length on Bad Moon Man Records.
This is a Spanish band started in 1999, this is their second full-length, they have also released one demo and one EP. The music is a combination of a lot of different musical genres. There is the Obvious Death and Doom Metal, with some Black Metal and Thrash Metal. There is a hefty dose of Gothic Metal in the music. There are traces of Progressive Metal and Ambient music and even some Jazz-fusions reminiscent of Cynic. Too me this is just too much, to many influences and inspirations, to many directions. I like my music raw and simplistic mainly. This is not simplistic or raw. I could come up with a perfect metaphor, something involving chefs, recipes, ingredients and soup but I wont do that because I like stuff simplistic. And strained metaphors are not simplistic, it is pretentious and I fucking hate pretentious people (and precocious children). |
