Kauan - Aava tuulen maa. Full-length on Bad Mood Man Records/Firebox Records.
Well, well, well. Not really my type of music to be honest. This is Kauan's (Finnish word, Russian band, go figure) third album, they started in 2005 and if I have understood their biography correctly they started as a Folk/Black/Doom Metal band, but now they have turned into some sort of Ambient, Post-Rock, Pop band. Definitely not my type of music, but I will describe what they sound like. The music is usually driven either by an finger picked acoustic guitar or the piano playing some sombre melody, coupled with a lot of keyboard work. With the occasional use of the violin an electric guitar with a slight distortion. The vocals are usually clean male vocals. The music is quite slow with some mid-paced parts. Some parts are very simple with just the guitar or the piano, others are more complex with a lot of layers of different instruments and Ambient sounds. Not my type of music, if this sounds interesting, by all means get this, for it is not bad, but if you are expecting some harsh Folk/Doom/Black Metal look elsewhere. |
