Mörker - Höstmakter. Full-length on Northern Silence Productions.
This is the second full-length album from this Swedish three-piece, this time around they use a session drummer. Mörker (I won't translate every Swedish word that pops up in this review, then it would never end) started in 2004 and they released a rehearsal demo that same year, in 2005 they released a second demo which quickly got them signed to Norther Silence Production who released a split with Draugsang and their debut full-length "Skuggornas rike". This is their latest release. I'm having some problem writing this review since it will almost be a repetition of my review of their first album. They play dark and somewhat raw, early to mid-nineties Norwegian/Swedish Black Metal, melodic and atmospheric. One can hear some small amount of the first Dimmu Borgir album in Mörker's music, but not so much that you can accuse them of being copy cats. There are also hints of mid-ninties Swedish melodic Black Metal in the music. The music is well written and the arrangements are superb. I wrote almost exactly the same for their first album (I think, it was a while ago I wrote that review). If you have heard that album you know what to expect from this album. The only thing I can add is that this is much better then the debut, which by the way was really good. They have improved as song writers, they know how really create that epic felling. And if you add the fact that they have a real drummer and the album was mastered Necromorbus Studio you get a really great album.
